A Moment of Serenity
So much more than this meat suit
Living this life one worry at a time
Trying to be everyone's idea of perfect
The cacophony of worries and frustrations of unmet expectations
Leave me bewildered and overwhelmed
Discovering the little things that make me...Me.
Little wonders; birds chirping in blue skies
Incandescent stars in a velvet backdrop
A sugar-laden Slurpie on a hot summer day
Green grass beneath my bare feet
Making art without thinking
A steaming London Fog on a rainy morning
So much has changed in a year.
I have changed, my life, my family, my tribe.
Single, living on my own, following my own path
Carefully disregarding others' loving but misguided words
And trusting myself to know what is best for me.
I erupted from the cocoon I hid away in for so long,
The box of perfection others would have me live in
But never felt like home
I'm living my own life, doing what resonates
Realizing I'm so much more than this meat suit
Living this life one moment at a time
Embracing my perfect imperfections
Muting the cacophony of worries and frustration
Letting go of expectations; que sera, sera...
Relinquishing control to go with the ebb and flow
Trusting my God and the Universe
All is as it should be.
